Me = academic librarian, self-described lefty-liberal agnostic, occasionally accused of being an intellectual elitist, which I generally take as a compliment. I do theatre and improv when I get the chance, backpacked through Europe for a summer after college, am a crossword junkie, and read just about anything I can get my hands on. I'm a total extrovert and pretty opinionated, and sometimes need to rein myself in when a heated debate gets going.
I rather like the macabre in a lot of things, but oddly enough I also have a ridiculous romantic/sentimental streak. Travel is a fundamental goal in my life, and I would like to see just about everywhere in the world.
And I keep waiting for great things to happen, then realize they already are.
Message from the Management: My LJ is currently not Friends Only and I'd like to keep it that way, as I'm pretty open and like meeting new folks (which is kind of the purpose of the LJ). So friend me if you choose, or lurk if you must, just please refrain from all forms of stalkerness and asshattery. Merci!
In wildness is the preservation of the world. - Thoreau
You need chaos in your soul to give birth to a dancing star. - Nietzsche
One half the world cannot understand the pleasures of the other. - Jane Austen
Faithless is he who says farewell when the road darkens. - J.R.R. Tolkien
I would rather be poor in a cottage full of books than a king without the desire to read. - Thomas Babington Macaulay
Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. - Ferris Bueller
He's like Super Librarian, y'know. Everyone forgets, Willow, that knowledge is the ultimate weapon. - Xander Harris (BtVS)
You see, I don't believe libraries should be drab places where people sit in silence, and that's been the main reason for our policy of employing wild animals as librarians. - Monty Python
